Browa

Browa, how my Eritrean parents pronounce the adopted Italian word brava; an interjection used to praise a performer. Browa is an ongoing list of words, phrases and sentences exemplifying the acrobatics used to belong to many languages. I have collected moments in speech that exemplify this skill from myself and members of my global community to praise this ongoing performance. I want to claim this middle space as home, as a space that is whole, and a signifier of accessibility to multiple worlds, truths, meanings and culture.
