AIR Program Recology SF

During my time at the Student Artist In Residence program at Recology SF, I made a series of sculptures and furniture through the process of weaving, coiling and knotting. I aimed to honor the work of those marginalized in discussions of industrial manufacturing like the women of Maquilapolis. (Factory workers along the U.S. and Mexican border) I see my seating series as a poetic gesture that brings factory workers like them to the center of our design thinking and forces us to acknowledge the affects of our excessive consumption and production of technology.
